Safe Seniors Program
At Clay Fire Territory, we believe in going the extra mile to ensure the safety of our senior residents. Our Safe Seniors Program is designed to protect our elderly community from potential fire hazards and other safety risks. Through home safety inspections, fire education, and the installation of free safety devices, we aim to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities among seniors in our service area, including Clay, German, and Harris Townships, as well as the towns of Roseland and Indian Village.
The goal of the program is simple: to bring awareness to the unique fire and safety challenges seniors face and to provide them with the tools needed to live safely and securely in their homes. Whether it’s installing smoke detectors or providing emergency access for first responders, Clay Fire is here to help.

Reducing Risks for Seniors
The Safe Seniors Program addresses key areas where seniors are most vulnerable to accidents and emergencies, such as kitchen fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, and delayed emergency response times due to unclear address markings or difficult access to homes. By offering free safety devices and resources, we aim to reduce the risk of kitchen fires through stovetop suppression units, ensure quicker access for emergency personnel with Knox® Residential Systems, increase safety with updated smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and enhance visibility for first responders with reflective address signs. This initiative provides peace of mind for seniors and their families, knowing that proactive steps are being taken to prevent emergencies before they happen.
